Five held for kidnapping bid
KATHMANDU: Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested five persons, including a taxi driver, on the charge of making a bid to kidnap Rajendra Prasai from the Yak and Yeti Hotel on Monday. The police took a taxi (Ba 1 Ja 5385) under control and arrested Ram Ghale, Sandip Lama, Sujan Rai, Sharada Ghale and Niya Lumba Tamang, the taxi driver, while they were taking Prasai to an undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, the Lalitpur police arrested three persons — Prem Lama of Kathmandu, Rajaram Tamang of Bhaktapur, and Deepak Majhi of Jhapa — on the charge of their involvement in thefts. —HNS
Baby found dead
KATHMANDU: A newborn was found dead in a container on the premises of the Kanti Bal Hospital, Maharajgunj, on Tuesday, the police said. — HNS
House burgled
KATHMANU: A group of thieves sneaked into the house of Prakash Shrestha at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-17 on Tuesday and decamped with cash and property worth Rs 1.72 lakh, the police said. — HNS
