Man nabbed on murder charge

KATHMANDU: The crime investigation branch of the valley police arrested a person on charge of murdering Rajbir Rai, 30, a resident of Dhapasi village development committee-6 on Sunday. "Sagar Shrestha, 24, has been arrested on murder charge," Binod Singh, superintendent of police at the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka said.

A group of people including Shrestha beat up Rai at Kapan village development committee-3 on April 25, police said. Rai, who was seriously injured, died while undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. The quarrel started over the issue of a girl. Search is on to nab the other culprits, Bhupal Kumar Bhandari, deputy superintendent of police at the VCIB said. — HNS

One arrested for looting, killing

The Valley Crime Investigation Branch arrested Rohit Mukhiya from Kataiya-5, Dhanusha, on charge of looting and killing a person at Rajasthan hotel a few days ago. A group of four people including Mukhiya looted Ramsharan Rokka, 28, after poisoning him at room no 203 of Rajasthan Hotel, Ganabahal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-22.

Rokka was a permanent resident of Harnamani-3, Makawanpur.The group called the deceased on the pretext of discussing some financial matter. They fed Rokka some narcotics, looted money and then killed him, police said. Mukhiya has been sent to the Kathmandu District Police Office for legal action, Bhupal Bhandari, DSP at the Valley Crime Investigation Branch said. — HNS
