Crime watch: Police nab drug pedlar from TIA

Kathmandu, November 16:

Police arrested Minrashi Gurung with one kg of hashish today at Tribhuvan International Airport while he was trying to board a plane to Bangkok. Gurung, who hails from Lamjung, was caught in the departure section of TIA when police carried out checks. Gurung tried to conceal the drug by swallowing the stuff that was loaded in 138 medical capsules.

Gurung, with passport number 2455647, was scheduled to take the Royal Nepal Airlines 401 flight to Bangkok, police said.

Police also seized 449 unclaimed mobile sets from a Royal Nepal Airlines plane that arrived here from Hongkok last evening. The mobile sets have been handed over to TIA customs office.

In another case, police arrested Rajan Rokka, 17, of Bishalnagar, Kathmandu, for vandalising RB Cyber shop at Sitalmarg , Maharajgunj, last evening. Rokka is from Sindhupalchowk.

Meanwhile, the Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit, New Baneshwor, arrested four persons for possessing 46 kg of hashish. According to the NDCLEU, Chhiring Gurung, Thok Bahadur Thapa, Kurmar Shyangtan and Thok Bahadur Bhurtel were arrested from different parts of the city on a tip-off. Further investigation is underway, police said.
