Cultural fair held in Basantapur

Kathmandu, March 18:

A cultural programme with the slogan “Culture For Peace” and participated in by various artists from five different countries was organised at the Basantapur Durbar Square on the second day of the International Folk-Culture Fair-2006 today.

Addressing the programme, Minister Without Portfolio, Buddhi Raj Bajaracharya, said cultural fairs have enhanced cultural identity of different countries. Mayor of the Kathmandu metropolis Rajaram Shrestha said culture is the identity of any country. President of the Everest Nepal Cultural Group Ram Chandra Koirala said the fair is being organised in every two years to preserve the culture of the country.

Secretary of the Kathmandu Durbar Square Tourism Promotion Association Naresh Dhowj Shrestha chaired the programme.

The fair is to go on till March 25, the organisers said.
