Customer stabbed to death at Pinglasthan restaurant
Kathmandu, December 28
A customer was stabbed to death after an altercation between him and an employee took a nasty turn inside the Pinglasthan-based Amadablam Deluxe Restaurant & Bar last night.
The deceased has been identified as Aditya Gurung, 35, of Siliguri, India. Police have arrested Doni Sherpa, 29, the restaurant employee, who hails from Bouddha, Kathmandu, for stabbing Gurung to death.
Gurung was attacked when a chat over alcohol turned into a verbal duel between the two. “Gurung and two of his friends had booked a room at the restaurant to lodge in and asked Doni, the front desk employee, to serve him more liquor and snacks at around 12 midnight. As the employee said it was too late to serve him drink and he could not do that, the dispute turned nasty,” said a police officer.
In a fit of rage, Sherpa stabbed Gurung multiple times. He was rushed to the Singamangal-based KMC Hospital but died during the course of treatment this morning. According to the police officer, Gurung was a football coach for a school run by Maiti Nepal. Sherpa used to be a drug addict.
The officer said further investigation was launched and Sherpa had been charged with murder. “Preliminary investigation suggests that it is not a premeditated murder and might be an impulsive one,” he informed.
