Dahal govt incapable of holding any poll, says Bijukchhe

KATHMANDU: Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe on Monday said no any poll could be held till the incumbent government led by Maoist leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal continued its reign.

Speaking with journalists in Bhaktapur today, Bijukchhe said the government could not hold the announced local level elections on May 14.

He, however, maintained that timely elections were a most for the Constitution implementation. Therefore, a new government formed after the fall of Dahal-led government should dare to mobilise army, if necessary, for the elections, he suggested.

The veteran leader claimed that external forces were making ploys to thwart the elections. He said the foreign forces were heavily influencing the government and the ruling parties.

Meanwhile, the opposition lawmaker warned that the nation's independence could be jeopardised if the Constitution amendment bill, currently being discussed at the Parliament, was endorsed.
