Dahal repeats revolt threat

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who is currently seeking support from various parties to topple the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led coalition, today, reiterated that people's revolt is the ultimate line of his party.

Prachanda at a training session during the central committee meeting of the National Dalit Liberation Front of Nepal (NDLF), said, “Since people's revolt is our ultimate line, a large number of people including youths should be taken to the streets for the purpose.” He claimed that special rights for the Dalits cannot be achieved from the existing state mechanism. “Without people's revolt such rights can never be established,” a participant quoted Dahal as saying.

Dahal had claimed that national and international reactionary forces had tried hard to make the Maoist leaders work for them but they failed. With the unification and unanimous decision to go for people's revolt, Prachanda told the Dalit leaders that the party has proved that it is not in the path of reformism. Dahal also praised the role of Dalit communities during the people's war and said he expected better role of the communities in the upcoming revolt.

Commenting on the three-month-long working plan of the party, he said the movement should be led to climax by mid-May. During the meeting in-charges of 13 state-coordination committees and three departments of the party-publication, international and women-also reported about their respective activities.

Dalit faction in-charge of the party and politburo member Khadga Bahadur Biswokarma and joint faction in-charge Bishwo Bhakta Dulal are scheduled to train the central members of the NDLF on Saturday.
