Dahal’s NCP chalks out protest programme

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 26

The Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) held its secretariat meeting and discussed ways to effectively carry out its first phase of protest programme against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the meeting also decided to hold talks with other political parties and civil society members about the joint protests that could be launched against the dissolution of the Lower House.

The Dahal faction has announced its first phase of protests against the dissolution of the HoR till December 29. The party has said that it will launch its second phase of protests after December 29.

Meanwhile, NCP Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today held a meeting with Bamdev Gautam, who had not joined any faction of the party till now.

According to Shrestha, Gautam told Dahal that he denounced the dissolution of the HoR by Oli, but he was not joining any faction now because he was exploring possibilities of keeping party unity intact.

Both Oli and Dahal factions claim to be the authentic NCP with the aim of retaining the party’s name and electoral symbol.
