KATHMANDU, MAY 7
The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DCSCP) has carried out monitoring of hospitals in Kathmandu Valley.
DCSCP with the help of the Department of Drug Administration, District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Nepal Police, on Thursday, monitored seven hospitals in the Valley to check whether treatment and other service fees are as determined by the government, informed Shiva Raj Sedain, spokesperson at DCSCP.
The monitoring was conducted following complaints registered against many hospitals in the Valley accusing them of charging patients high fees during Covid-19 pandemic.
The seven hospitals monitored by the Department included Civil Hospital in Minbhawan, Om Hospital and Medicare Hospital in Chabahil, Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, HAMS Hospital in Sukedhara, Grande International Hospital in Tokha, and Metro Hospital.
During the monitoring, the hospitals were found lacking of Remdesivir and adequate beds, and short in following health protocols, said Sedain.
Likewise, there is disparity in treatment and other service fees among the hospitals, he said.
Following the monitoring, the health facilities have been directed to submit required documents for investigations.
