Deliberations on govt policies and programmes begin

KATHMANDU: Deliberations on the government’s policies and programmes presented by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on May 21 have started in the House of Representatives today.

While taking part in the deliberations, lawmaker Baburam Bhattarai commented that the policies and programmes were positive as they aim to double the per capita income, end unemployment, generate 5,000 megawatt power among others in a period of five years.

He further shared that the policies and programmes also mention infrastructure development, adding that clarity was of utmost importance to achieve these goals.

He suggested the government to bring concrete plans rather than ambitious ones. Lawmaker Bhattarai, also the coordinator of Naya Shakti Nepal party, opined to invite foreign investments by keeping national interest at the centre. He urged the government to concretise the programmes to institutionalise federalism in the country.

Similarly, lawmaker Bishal Bhattarai stressed on preparing a concrete foundation for the implementation of the said policies and programmes.

Likewise, lawmaker Yagya Raj Sunar said the policies and programmes were effective as they focused on various areas with concrete plans.
