‘Development activities to gain pace soon’

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that development activities will gain momentum soon.
During a meeting with Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leaders and elected representatives from Jhapa in Baluwatar, PM Oli, who is also the chairman NCP, said that there was no longer any uncertainty over whether development activities should begin from the province- or the local level. “As the path is now clear, development activities will gain momentum soon,” he added.
On the occasion, Chief Administrative Officer of Damak Municipality Ganesh Prasad Timsina informed the PM about the progress of projects in the district.
He said, “Damak assembly hall is under construction, construction of livestock market has been completed and detailed project report on Damak view tower has been prepared. Five bigaha land has been acquired for the construction of the view tower.” He also shared that preparation was on to distribute compensation to landowners for construction of an industrial estate. He said the municipality had acquired seven bigaha land for the construction of Buddha statue.
PM Oli was further informed about the progress made in the construction of municipality building, clock tower and model housing for the poor.
Kankai Municipality Mayor Rajendra Pokharel demanded that the government allocate adequate budget for the construction of Surunga-Jhapa road and Laxmi-Gherabari road, and at least Rs 10 million for the construction of 25-bed hospital at Kankai and tourism infrastructure.
Arjundhara Municipality Mayor Hari Rana also briefed the PM on development activities taking place in the municipality.
