Dhanwantari Day marked

Kathmandu, November 5

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Upendra Yadav said the government was planning to set up ayurvedic hospitals in all seven provinces as they would utilise the medicinal herbs available in the country and promote ayurvedic treatment.

Speaking at a programme organised by Naradevi Ayurveda Hospital to mark Dhanwantari Day here today, DPM Yadav said ayurvedic treatment had fallen behind due to the lack of research. “We are planning to conduct research on Ayurveda since foreign nations are ready to  invest in the production of ayurvedic medicines,” Yadav added.

Dr Basudev Prasad Upadhyay of Department of Ayurveda said people were deprived of long-term health benefits of Ayurveda.

Dhanwantari Day is marked on the day of Kag Tihar, commemorating ancient Ayurvedic doctor Dhanwantari.
