Discussion on health plan starts
Kathmandu, February 19:
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has started discussions on the implementation of various health programmes as per its annual work plan.
The Research Triangular International (RTI), a technical group of the DFID and World Bank, presented various programmes based on the guidelines of the second long-term plan (1997-2017) to the government yesterday.
Health Ministry spokesperson Arjun Bahadur Singh said that the RTI would work closely with various departments under the Department of Health Services to execute the goals envisioned in the programmes.
“The government is concentrating more on service delivery, its management, and decentralisation of programmes,” said Singh.
“Some programmes have already been started, as they are interlinked with other government programmes,” said Singh. He said that the Health System Support (HSS) programme would be implemented by July. The HSS would concentrate more on organisational development, infrastructure such as modern and well-equipped refrigerator and capacity building of human resources for making immunisation programmes effective.
