Docs threaten protest
KATHMANDU: Government and non-government doctors’ associations of Nepal have threatened to launch nationwide protest against the government’s decision to appoint health secretary who does not come from medical background.
The associations have also requested the government to annul the decision as soon as possible. Issuing a press release on Wednesday, Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal and Non-Government Doctors’ Association said that despite of the government’s agreement with Nepal Medical Association to appoint a secretary with at least five-year experience in the health sector, the government on Monday appointed Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, who did not come from medical background, as health secretary.
