Kathmandu, February 7
Dr Meera Hada, senior obstetrician and gynecologist, organised a free health camp at Sheshnarayan Health Post in Pharping yesterday on the occasion of her mother’s death anniversary.
More than 200 women from the village were benefited from the health camp. Since the past two decades, Dr Hada has been conducting free health camps in the Sheshnarayan Health Post.
Dr Hada has been providing free health services to residents of Pharping and neighbouring villages on the death anniversary of her mother and first Saturday of each month. She also provides free medicines to patients.
Dr Hada says more than 10,000 women have already been benefited from her health camps.
“This is a small help but this could mean a lot to people here. So I have been conducting free health camps for the people,” she said. She informed that women didn’t visit health camps earlier as they were shy about disclosing their health problems. “But now they speak openly,” she said, adding that she feels like getting closer to god when she sees smiles on the faces of women after treatment.
Krishna Hari Baskota, chief commissioner, National Information Commission said that the country would progress by leaps and bounds, if everybody worked honestly.
Dr Sundar Mani Dixit, who is also a social worker, said many people were still dying due to lack of medical treatment in the country. He urged all doctors to avoid politics and sincerely perform their duties.
