KATHMANDU: Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is all set to update people about their driving license status through SMS (short message service).

While installing a new system in the department today, DoTM Director General Lawanya Kumar Dhakal and Chief Executive of Sparrow SMS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today amid a ceremony at department's head office in Minbhawan.

After inaugurating the system, Dhakal said the new technology would be effective in informing people about their written test results and driving license status without any hassle.

Dhakal further shared the service seekers would have not to visit DoTM service centres in person to check written exams results and another status about their license. They will be updated via SMS service from now onwards.

According to DoTM, it has issued over 8,00,000 digital licences and preparations are on to print additional 400,000 licenses.
