KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 8
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha received earthquake relief materials dispatched by the Chinese government today.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, handed over the emergency supplies from our northern neighbor to the Deputy Prime Minister during a ceremony at Pokhara Regional International Airport. The relief materials include blankets, tarpaulins, and more. Two aircraft from Chengdu Airport in China landed at Pokhara Airport with the assistance.
During the event, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that China has consistently stood by Nepal in times of crisis. He emphasized the strength of Nepal-China relations, which are built on principles of sovereignty, independence, mutual benefit, and shared interests.
DPM Shrestha also expressed gratitude for China's significant support during the 2015 earthquake and the Covid-19 pandemic.
The ambassador echoed these sentiments, highlighting the strong and friendly relations between Nepal and China. He also expressed condolences for the recent earthquake with its epicenter in Jajarkot on November 3.
It's worth noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to President Ramchandra Paudel for the powerful earthquake in Karnali Province, which resulted in significant casualties and property damage.
As of the time of this report, Kaski Chief District Officer Basudev Ghimire mentioned that they were in the process of preparing and dispatching the relief materials to the affected areas."
