DPM Singh to lead Nepal delegation to UNGA

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh will lead the Nepali delegation to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Nepal Students Union leader UP Lamichhane, who is close to DPM Singh, confirmed that Singh will fly to New York today itself.

While other members of the delegation remain same, Singh will replace Prime Minister Sushil Koirala to the annual meeting of the global body, Lamichhane added.

"If tickets and other logistics are arranged accordingly, he will fly at 4:30 pm along with other members," the aide said, "If not, the flight will be delayed."

Earlier, PM Koirala had cancelled the trip considering various domestic issues including the purported dialogue with the agitating Madheshi parties.

He was scheduled to leave the Tribhuan International Airport at 4:30 pm today.
