Dr Bhattarai for sustained fight to eradicate poverty

Kathmandu, March 7:

Finance Minister and Unified CPN-Maoist’s senior leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai today said his party would continue its struggle until food, cloth and shelter were ensured to all Nepali people.

Addressing a programme organised by Rajan International School today, he said, “Only a determined struggle will guarantee the people’s rights to live as a respectable citizen of the country.” He also said the need to make poverty a history was never felt more vital as today.

An emotional Dr Bhattarai also maintained that his party would simultaneously lead the struggle from the government, House and streets to make Nepal a poverty-free country and help foster an equitable society.

Earlier, Dr Bhattarai unveiled a statue of late Rajan Rayamajhi, who attained martyrdom during the Jana Andolan-I in 1990, built on the school’s premises. He also paid tribute to all known and unknown martyrs for sacrificing themselves to uproot the remains of feudalist forces and helping establish republic in the country.
