Dr Govinda KC on hunger-strike demanding resignation of Chief Justice

KATHMANDU: Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC is on hunger strike for the 14th time starting Monday, this time demanding resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli.

Dr KC made the announcement in a press meet held Monday, following the Supreme Court's decision to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma as the Dean of Institute of Medicine.

Sharma, who was appointed the Dean of IoM in January 10, 2014 was relieved of his services on January 22 the same year after KC's hunger strike which gained massive public support.

Resignation of the Chief Justice, accusing him of corruption, is one of the five-point demands put forth by Dr KC. He has repeated his demand for the formation of Medical Education Commission this time too.

After hearing on Dr Sharma's writ petition against his removal, a division bench of CJ Parajuli and Justice Dipak Karki had issued an order for Sharma's reinstatement on Sunday.
