Dr KC's supporters stage protest

KATHMANDU: Supporters of Dr Govinda KC, who was arrested on Monday on charge of contempt of court, have gathered in Maitighar Mandala since 8 am today to protest KC's 'dramatic' arrest and demanding his immediate release.

'Solidarity for Dr KC' had called for the mass-protest on Monday following the medical activist's arrest.

People have gathered at Maitighar in huge numbers amid tight security.

Police will present Dr KC at the court at 9 am today. Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa, Naya Shakti leader Baburam Bhattarai have condemned the arrest and demanded KC's immediate release. They're expected to join the protest.

Likewise, Bibeksheel Sajha Party in a presser released Tuesday morning has condemned KC's arrest. KC continued his hunger strike in police custody after his arrest from the hunger-strike staged at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj on Monday evening.
