Draft of national health policy submitted

Kathmandu, December 17

The committee formed by the Ministry of Health to prepare a draft of the National Health Policy 2074 submitted the draft policy to Health Minister Deepak Bohara.

“As the constitution has guaranteed health care as the fundamental right of citizens, it is the responsibility of the government to maintain the achievement made in controlling communicable diseases, reducing infant and maternal mortality rate, and prevalence of non-communicable diseases, and providing quality health services to senior citizens, marginalised and poverty-stricken people. We need a health policy that guarantees quality health care to citizens,” said Prof Dr Shree Krishna Giri, chief of Policy, Plan and International Cooperation Division under the Ministry of Health.

“The National Health Policy 2074 aims to mobilise all necessary resources to improve the health and well-being of people in all the local levels. This policy has been drafted so that people in each provinces have easy access to basic health care services,” added Dr Giri.  The draft will be presented in the Cabinet for approval.
