Drug storage facilities to be set up in all provinces
Kathmandu, January 24
The government is preparing to set up drugs storage facilities in all provinces to ease the supply of medicines to the local levels.
According to Director of Logistics Management Division under the Ministry of Health, Dr Ramesh Kumar Kharel, the government is preparing to set up drugs storage facilities in all the provinces for smooth operation of health centres.
Currently, there are drugs storage facilities at the regional levels only. “In the federal set-up, three provinces — provinces, 2, 4, 6 — lack medical storage facilities. So the government is preparing to establish medical storage facilities in the three provinces,” Dr Kharel said.
The doctors added, “Construction of the storage facilities will be completed in two to three years.”
The medical storage facilities will ensure availability of essential drugs round the year.
