DSP suspended for forgery

Kathmandu, September 12

A deputy superintendent of police has been suspended after being found to have forged his citizenship certificate to secure promotion to that post.

DSP Ballav Bahadur Singh obtained another citizenship certificate from District Administration Office, Bajhang, by altering his date of birth to show him younger and get promotion to the post of DSP from inspector.

As per the original citizenship certificate, Singh was 18 years old on May 13, 1980, but he obtained another citizenship certificate to show that he was only 16 years old then for securing promotion.

He was to retire from Nepal Police one-and-a half years ago as per the age limit.

“Instead, he secured promotion by forging government document and was still working in the capacity of DSP,” stated a press release issued by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today.

The anti-graft body informed that a charge-sheet was filed against Singh at the Special Court seeking maximum punishment for him.
