Durable constitution will contribute to development, peace in Nepal: S Jaishankar

KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar said that a durable constitution would contribute to development and peace in Nepal.

Talking to media before his departure at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday morning, Jaishankar said that promulgation of the constitution by incorporating all the sides concerned would make it durable.

Jaishankar, who arrived here on Friday, had met President, Prime Minister and leaders of various political parties including agitating Madhes-centric parties and discussed the constitution making process among other issues.

"India has been strongly supporting the constitution making in Nepal," he said, adding, "We would like its completion to be an occasion for joy and satisfaction, not agitation and violence."
