Kathmandu, May 23:

Dyolas — a sub-caste of the Newari community — today condemned the effort made on May 19 to demolish houses in the Harijan neighbourhood at ward number 8 in Tilganga.

“A team of the Department of Roads, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Young Communist League came to the community with a bulldozer to pull down 40 houses, saying they lie near the roads and should be destroyed to expand the green belt track,” Nirmal Dyola, president of the Jana Sarokar Committee, Harijan Tole Tilganga-8, said at a press meet today.
