KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 1

The Election Commission (EC) has endorsed the voting schedule for the upcoming National Assembly elections, set for January 25.

The EC meeting held on Thursday decided to issue a notice for the registration of political parties participating in the elections on December 8. Likewise, the timeline for registering political parties is from December 10 to 15.

Similarly, political parties will be granted election symbols on December 17, and the names of eligible political parties for the National Assembly election will be sent for publication in the Nepal Gazette on December 20, according to EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel.

Voting for the election is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on January 25. As per the endorsed election schedule, the appointment of election officers will be made on January 1, and the offices of election officers will be established in the election offices of the seven provinces on the same day.

Election-related programs will be conducted in the election officers' offices from January 5 to 13.

On November 29, the government announced the NA election for one-third of the NA seats that have been vacant since March 4, with the six-year terms of 20 members, including Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, ending on March 3.
