Economic prosperity is the path ahead: President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today stated that economic prosperity was the pathway ahead as the political transition is coming to an end, a year after the Constitution promulgation.

Addressing the first convocation of the Nepal Chartered Accountants, President Bhandari expressed that fulfilling the increased aspirations of people and institutionalising past achievements was today's need.

She also stressed the need to prioritise rapid socio-economic transformation.

"It is the need of the hour to channelise natural, intellectual and physical resources in an effective way and utilise external capital, skills and technology," she said.

Acknowledging the role of auditors in a variety of economic activities, including preparing of a financial report for annual budget, she urged them to work for the welfare of the community, society and the country while following professional ethics, responsibilities and duties.

President Bhandari also recognised the role of CAs in ensuring investment returns, making conducive environment for investment and making tax system of the country transparent and effective.

In the event, President Bhandari handed out certificates to 329 CA graduates.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dhani Ram Paudel underscored the need for CAs to maintain professional integrity.

Vice-Chancellor of the Pokhara University Prof Chiranjibi Prasad Sharma emphasised the need to heighten the prestige of auditing profession.
