Education children’s fundamental right, says Pokharel

Newly appointed education minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel has urged all ministry officials to work towards ensuring children their right to education.
Addressing the ministry officials, he said, “The new constitution has guaranteed education as the fundamental right of every student. Thus, the ministry should work towards ensuring their right.” He also stressed on the need to provide technical and practical education to students so that they can compete globally. He said the education sector has been facing great challenges after the devastating April 25 earthquake. “Education sector doesn’t have enough budget but we can still perform better,” he added.
He also urged all ministry officials to support him in tackling challenges facing the education sector.
“I have chosen education ministry with the objective of bringing about reforms in the sector. I will try to do my best to resolve existing problems and improve the quality of education in schools and colleges,” he added.
