Education minister leaves for Bangkok
Kathmandu, February 23
Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel today left for Bangkok to participate in the three-day Asia Education Summit on Flexible Learning Strategies for Out-of-school Children scheduled to be held from February 24.
The Asia Education Summit is organised by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, while United Nations Children’s Fund is the co-organiser.
A statement issued here today by the Ministry of Education said the summit will bring together around 400 high-level representatives, government officials, intergovernmental organisations, NGO partners, educators, business representatives and other stakeholders from 24 member states.
The participants are going to share and discuss the best targeted innovations in the 21st century education governance and learning that aim to benefit and include most marginalised children in the region.
This summit is expected to provide an open forum to explore together as colleagues, teammates, and friends the leading promising practices in education for out of school children.
The goal 4 in Sustainable Development Goal calls for ensuring inclusive and equitable education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Along with minister, Baikuntha Aryal, director and spokesperson, Department of Education, and Babu Ram Poudel, executive director, Curriculum Development Center, are also participating in the summit.
Currently, Nepal is the member of executive committee of the UNESCO.
