KATHMANDU: The senior citizens have staged a demonstration on Sunday in the Capital city, demanding an increase in the social security allowance.

As many as 200 elderly people protested by sleeping on the road for an hour in front of Department of Roads, Min Bhawan.

Their demands include 50 per cent discount in transportation and health care services and others.

Senior citizen Mahar Prasad Parajuli said that the leaders' commitment to increase the allowance given to the elderly from Rs 2,000 was not implemented in the recent annual budget.
