Election Commission diktat for inclusion
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday instructed political parties to make their executive committees inclusive from top to bottom, reflecting the country's diversity.
Political parties are major stakeholders to promote proportional inclusive democracy in the country, said the Commission.
The EC also urged the political parties registered at the Commission to restructure their executive committees to meet the spirit of new Constitution including federalism and the new form of governance that the country recently switched to.
According to EC Spokesperson Basudev Guragain, the Commission also sent a letter to the political parties regarding the issue.
It may be noted that the preamble of Nepal's Constitution has promised to build a peaceful society based on the principles of proportional inclusion and participation to ensure social justice.
