EC to take diplomats on poll inspection visits

Kathmandu, June 5

The Election Commission has decided to take the representatives of various diplomatic missions to visit eight cities across the country under the second round of the local level elections.

The EC has made arrangements for the representatives to inspect 12 to 15 voting stations of each city in the second phase of local level elections taking place on June 28, said EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.

According to the plan, Biratnagar and Dhankuta cities have been picked from Province No 1, while Janakpur and Bardibas have been elected from Province No 2, Bhairahawa and Palpa from Province No 5 and Dhangadi and Dadeldhura from Province No 7.

The Chief Returning Officer, Chief District Officer and District Election Officer from the respective places will decide on the place of visit for them.

In the first round of local elections held on May 14, representatives from 12 foreign diplomatic missions were allowed to have inspection visit to various voting stations within the Kathmandu Valley.
