Electronic crematorium at Pashupati resumes operation

KATHMANDU: The electronic crematorium, which was not working for last 11 days, has come into operation from today.

According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), as many as six bodies were cremated in the crematorium today.

The PADT Member-Secretary Dr Govinda Tandan informed the Rastriya Samachar Samiti that out of the two furnaces, the cremation was started in the furnace number 1 only today.

A team of technicians have come to repair the furnace number 2. It might come into operation within next three to four days, he added.

The machine had stopped working after some floodwater entered in the pump.
