Embassy denies encroachment, incursion

KATHMANDDU: The Indian Embassy has come across the recent reports in some sections of the Nepali media regarding alleged incursions and encroachment of the Nepali territory and attacks on Nepali nationals by India’s Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB).

The Embassy has cross-checked the factual situation with relevant Indian authorities. The authorities categorically stated that had been no violation of international border or any attacks upon Nepali nationals by Indian border guard forces. It has also been confirmed that no border pillar has been shifted or tampered with.

The Embassy would also like to point out that no formal communication has been received by it from the Government of Nepal regarding these alleged incidents. In response to queries from the District authorities on the Indian side, their Nepali counterparts have conveyed that no reports have been registered with them in this regard either.

The Embassy categorically rejects, the allegations carried in some sections of the Nepali media on the above mentioned incidents as baseless and motivated by vested interests in an attempt to vitiate the friendly and cordial relationship between India and Nepal.

The Embassy reiterates that

the Government and people of

India remain fully committed

to strengthen and enhance the traditionally strong bilateral relationship with Nepal.
