End impunity, say leaders

KATHMANDU: Leaders of political parties expressed serious concern about the growing culture of impunity in the country. Speaking at a programme organised in the capital on Monday, leader of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta emphasised the need of strong measures to control the rising impunity. He accused the political parties of being involved in such activities. He also urged the government to ratify the Rome Statute of International Criminal Court to combat impunity. Laxmi Prasad Ghimire, chief whip, Nepali Congress, echoed Gupta stating that the Rome Statute should be ratified for the protection of the people.
