Endangered pangolin found in Bhaktapur APF battalion
NAGARKOT: A pangolin, an endangered species of mammal, was found in Duwakot-based Armed Police Force Guheswori Battalion in Changu Narayan Municipality of Bhaktapur on Saturday evening.
The APF handed over the mammal, which was 71.5 cm long and weighed 3.99 kg, to the Bhaktapur District Forest Office on Sunday.
The DFO Chief, Surya Kanta Sigdel said the mammal was sent to Surya Binayak-based Taudol Chhap Community Forest on Sunday, as the area was a natural habitat for the creature.
The Community Forest Consumer Group has been organising different campaigns for conservation of the endangered mammal.
The Consumer Group Chairman, Maheswor Bohara, said the fenced forest they boast is best suited for conservation of the mammal.
Bohara said a total of seven pangolins have been left in the forest so far.
