Engineering students awarded scholarships

Ncell, a telecommunications service provider, today handed over scholarships and Excellence Awards to toppers of Bachelor of Engineering electrical, electronics and communication, and computer faculties of Pulchowk Campus under the Institute of Engineering.

According to Ncell, the scholarships and awards aim to promote academic excellence in technical education, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Simon Perkins, managing director of Ncell, handed over 12 Ncell Scholarships to toppers amid a function. He also conferred Ncell Excellence Awards to four students who graduated from these faculties securing the highest marks.

Each Ncell scholarship and Ncell Excellence Award carries a purse of Rs 100,000.

Ncell under its CSR initiative, had instituted Ncell Scholarship and Excellence Awards at the Central Engineering Campus, Pulchowk, for 5 years in 2014 with an aim to support technical education and contribute towards development of skilled human resources.

“Education has always remained our top priority. The scholarships would help young and talented students set their minds free from financial burden and focus on their education,” said Perkins. “Initiatives like this foster creativity and innovation among students by encouraging them to strive for academic excellence.”

The 12 scholarships receivers include 3 toppers each from electrical, electronics and communication, and computer faculties and a topper among female students from these faculties.

Ncell Excellence Awards is given to students graduating with top scores from each of these faculties.
