Enraged friends attack Khyati’s ‘killers’
KATHMANDU: A clash ensued between security personnel and relatives and friends of Khyati Shrestha after the latter attacked the alleged murderers of Khyati, Biren Shrestha and Merina Shakya, in Kathmandu district court on Sunday.
Bibek Karki, a friend of Khyati Shrestha, said that the clash occurred while the police were bringing the accused duo to present them before the court. He informed that the clash occurred around half past two where the police had lathi charged the angry crowd to control the situation.
Merina Shakya was punched in her face as there were less number of female security personnel guarding her, said a security personnel. However, Biren Shrestha was unharmed. He informed that the court had remanded both in judicial custody for another seven days.
Police had arrested Biren Shrestha, 42, of Naradevi and Merina Shakya, 16, of Kathmandu on the charge of their involvement in Khyati Shrestha’s murder.
