Kathmandu, January 21:

The adverse effect of the hike in prices of pertoleum products can be minimised if the government provides support to Electric Vehicles in the Valley, according to the Electric Vehicle Association of Nepal (EVAN).

In a press release issued here today, EVAN demanded the government support EVs by properly managing the route and parking spaces, giving VAT subsidy in importing spare parts and electricity tariff. “The constructive support from the government will not only assist the existing 600 safa tempos currently being plied in the Valley, but will also promote their use,” the release stated. It further said that it is high time the government formulate a long-term policy to expand the EV business as petroleum products will be even more expensive.
