Ex-APF men get lifer for arms misuse
Kathmandu, May 21:
Three former Armed Police Force personnel have been sent to Dillibazar Sadarkhor on the charge of misusing arms and ammunition.
Jitendra Prasad Singh of Balara-4 in Sarlahi, Mahendra Bikram Shah of Simara-6 in Bara and Bhim Bahadur Khadka of Mali-1 in Dolakha were sent to the jail following a sentence for life term and confiscation of property by a special court of the APF.
Former assistant head constable Devi Prasad Timilsina, who was also sentenced along with the trio, has been absconding.
A three-member special court chaired by DIG Krishna Prasad Prasai issued the verdict against them. The court had joint secretary at Home ministry Biswo Prakash Pandit and DIG Nawaraj Bista as members.
All four APF men were convicted of misusing ammunition while on duty in the store section of the APF.
They were found to have been involved in selling arms and ammunition to Indian criminals involved in smuggling. They used to charge Rs 40 per bullet. The APF had also recovered 1,823 bullets from the trio in different dates after they were arrested some eight months ago.
