FAO Director General calls on President

KATHMANDU: Visiting Director General at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, Jose Graziano da Silva, on Sunday paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

During the meeting held at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas today, the duo discussed various issues including FAO's support to Nepal, achievements of the supported programmes and the Zero Hunger Challenge Initiative by 2025, spokesperson at the President's Office, Khadananda Dhakal, said in a press statement today.

The duo were of the view that animal husbandry, pisciculture and other food security programmes should be consolidated in Nepal to solve the food crisis, according to Dhakal.

High officials of the Government of Nepal and the FAO were also present on the occasion.
