Fast-track construction procedure okayed
Kathmandu, June 22
The government today approved the procedure for construction of Kathmandu-Tarai fast-track.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers presided over by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba took a decision to this effect.
The previous government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal had entrusted Nepali Army with constructing the 76 km Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track Road.
According to government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also the Minister for Finance, the procedure was prepared with a view to competing the fast-track project within the stipulated deadline. He said the meeting has decided to accept US$150 million soft loan offered by Asian Development Bank for urban development projects.
He informed that the meeting has also decided to form a team under the leadership of joint secretary of the MoF to prepare a loan spending plan.
The Cabinet meeting also promoted Dr Kiran Regmi as secretary at the Ministry of Health. The meeting has also decided to appoint Justice Baburam Regmi as a member of the Special court.
The meeting also transferred Secretary at the Election Commission Gopinath Mainali to the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. Joint-secretary Maheshwor Neupane serving at the Ministry of General Administration was transferred to the EC in Mainali’s place as acting secretary.
