Kathmandu: Fear of Maoists has compelled Ravi Adhikari, a New York-based Nepali journalist, to cancel his trip to Nepal. According to a statement by his brother Manu Adhikari who is a senior leader of the Nepali Congress in Mahottari, despite Ravi’s repeated efforts to visit his ailing mother he has been unable to come home because of the Maoists’ threat .

Sources said the Maoists were riled at Ravi for his bluntly critical viewpoint of them. — HNS
