KATHMANDU: Feminists Dalit Organisation (FEDO) today demanded that the culprits accused of torturing Kalli Kumari BK, who was forced to eat her own faeces for allegedly practicing witchcraft, be brought to book. It also warned of protests if the government failed to punish the guilty.

Durga Sob, President of FEDO said, “The government is protecting Bimala Lama, headmistress of Gadi Bhanjyang Primary School, and other culprits involved in her torture,” adding, “women activists in the capital too seem to be indifferent to her plight as she belongs to a Dalit community.” Sob demanded that the government facilitate her safe return home.

A 19-member committee was also formed to investigate into the case of Kalli Kumari BK but it has made no progress so far, she said.
