Final hearing begins on Sobhraj case
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court today began final hearing on the appeal of international serial killer Charles Gurumukh Sobhraj against the conviction of lower courts in a US citizen murder in 1975.
A division bench of Justices Ram Kumar Prasad Shah and Gauri Dhakal began the hearing on the demand of Sobhraj against life imprisonment imposed on him.
The bench has also been testing his appeal against the Patan Appellate Court verdict on fake passport possession case, in which he faced one-year jail sentence for entering Nepal with a fake passport. Sobhraj has been languishing in Kathmandu Central Jail for last six years for his involvement in killing US citizen Connie Jo Bronzich. He has also been charged of killing Canadian National Laurent Armond Carriere.
