Finally schools resume

KATHMANDU: All the schools of the capital which had remained closed due to the protests of Nepal Institutional Teachers Association (N-ISTU) resumed on Wednesday.

N-ISTU agreed to take back the protest programmes after Ramchandra Khusba, education minister, assured to fulfill their demands within a week. N-ISTU plan to issue an ultimatum to Private and Boarding Schools' Organisation of Nepal (PABSON) and National Private and Boarding Schools' Organisation of Nepal (N-PABSON) to fulfill their demands within seven days. The demands include facilities and benefits to private school teachers as that of government teachers, scrapping the new rule to register schools in the Company Act and implementation of past agreements among others.

All the members of N-ISTU, detained by police, were released on Tuesday evening.
