Fine artist Puran Khadka dies

KATHMANDU: Fine artist Puran Khadka died in Kathmandu on Tuesday. He was 60.

Born in 1956/1957 in Achham district of far-western Nepal, Khadka had graduated from the Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art in 1980 and pursued a career as a fine artist.

He has made a significant contribution to the art industry while he had organised as many as eight solo art exhibitions, according to the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).

NAFA informed that he had also participated in various art exhibitions around the world.

He had received a regional appreciation award from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and NAFA.

In its statement, NAFA expressed condolence to the bereaved family.
