The Kathmandu valley traffic police has decided to increase the fines for road traffic offences.

Earlier, spokesperson of the Kathmandu valley traffic police office Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajendra Prasad Bhatta was quoted as saying that the decision has come into effect since Poush.

The traffic police has surged monetary penalty for 16 different road traffic misdemeanours.

Prior to the decision now under implementation, the traffic rule flouters were subjected to fines ranging from Nrs 500-1,500. However, pertaining to the decision, it has set minimum penalty at Nrs. 1,500.
