Fire at NEA central office
KATHMANDU: A fire broke out in the distribution centre, administrative office and warehouse of the Nepal Electricity Authority central office, near Old Bus Park, this afternoon.
The fire, which broke out at around 3:20pm, was doused by fire brigades of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur with the support of the personnel of Nepali Army and Nepal Police, NEA employees and locals. It took them around an hour to put out the fire.
Old documents and rubber and plastic materials were stored in the warehouse, which were burnt to ashes within minutes.
According to preliminary investigation of police, an electric short-circuit caused the fire. Police, however, said actual cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, as welding work was also going on to fix the buildings that were damaged by the earthquake.
NEA had informed police and fire brigade about the fire. Further investigation is under way, said police. - See more at: http://thehimalayantimes.com/fullNews.php?headline=Fire+at+NEA+central+office&NewsID=457384#sthash.O6O6SFC7.dpuf
